The James Madison University (JMU) Online Debate Camp focuses on the practical application and critical examination of debate. The course will provide students with experience in researching, constructing and presenting topics for debate. Additionally, students will be asked to examine pieces of public debate in order to provide them with the tools to critically examine public discourse in a manner consistent with being a productive and active citizen. The JMU Online Debate Camp will run July 9 - August 3, 2018. The cost of this camp is $300 for all students.

ADDITIONAL CREDIT OPTION: SCOM 313 - The Art of Public Debate (3 credit hours)

Rising juniors and seniors have the additional option to take this course for credit. Tuition for this three-credit course is $279 ($93/credit hour). This fee is in addition to the $300 registration fee.

You must apply as a non-degree seeking student (NDSS) to receive credit. To apply as a NDSS, visit On the left hand side click on "Apply" and follow the instructions under "I want to take a JMU class". Note: If you have never completed a NDSS application before, you must “Create Your Account” first and then proceed to “Non-Degree Seeking Student Application.” A nonrefundable $20 application fee applies. You may pay the application fee with a credit card or an electronic check. **Please note, payment by electronic check requires a verification period of (6) business days before your application is remitted to JMU.
