The Jewish and Christian Bibles (Old and New Testaments) emerged in patriarchal societies, yet stories of women throughout this literature challenge the status quo. Step into the lives and cultures of Hagar, Tamar, Mary, Rhoda, Lydia, Phoebe and more. Class sessions will include storytelling, artwork, presentations, and discussion. Whether you are a man or a woman, a person of a particular faith tradition or no faith, this class is an opportunity to learn about and evaluate the contributions these women's stories have made to ancient people and how these women's lives and voices echo in today's world.

Instructor: Rev. Jennifer Davis Sensenig is a teacher and storyteller. She teaches occasional Bible courses for Eastern Mennonite University and has served as a congregational pastor for 19 years in Iowa, California and now Harrisonburg, Virginia. She is a member of the Network of Biblical Storytellers International, and belongs to the Shenandoah Valley Biblical Storytellers. She has been lead pastor of Community Mennonite Church since 2008. She received her M.Div. in 1998 from Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary.
