Medical Transcription

Approved by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI), the Medical Transcription program helps students gain the specific skills needed to successfully begin a medical transcription career. Students learn medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare documentation, among other topics, as well as developing and practicing their typing and listening skills on hundreds of authentic, employer-provided dictations from a variety of specialties. In addition to one-on-one support from experienced instructors throughout the course and personalized graduate support after graduation, students receive ten textbooks, a transcription foot pedal, a 15-month membership to AHDI, and a 15-month subscription to an online reference library.

Students have 12 months to complete the non-credit training program. Upon successful completion, students receive a Certificate of Completion from James Madison University.
