Description

This course will look at the impacts of the Railroad in Harrisonburg and surrounding areas. We will take a deep dive into the impacts of the Chesapeake Western Rail Road and Stokesville on our area. An overview of the rolling stock and locomotives used by Chesapeake Western and the history of the Depot will also be featured.

Instructors: Neal Menefee, Clarence Geier, Don Showalter, Jeffrey Smoker, and Charles Hendricks join forces to teach this class. Railroad enthusiast, architect, and local historians all have a passion for the Chesapeake Western and preserving its history.
