Ralph Allen Dr. Ralph Allen is a retired faculty member of the University of Virginia, where he served as a Professor of Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Public Health Science. He has also previously served as the Associate Vice President for Research at UVA.
Gardening Connection
Jennifer Cottrell Jennifer Cottrell is a Certified Zentangle® Teacher and has been an arts-and-crafts lover from early childhood. She provides instruction in this wonderful meditative art through JMU Lifelong Learning and through private lessons and parties.
Susan Facknitz Susan Facknitz had the pleasure of teaching Creative Writing and American and Irish Literature at JMU for 32 years. She led Study Abroad trips to Ireland and spent many months traveling the Irish countryside. Now retired, she leads a writers' group at Blue Ridge Community College and works at the Harrisonburg Visitor Center.

Anne Henriksen Dr. Anne Henriksen is Faculty Emerita at James Madison University, where she was a professor in the Integrated Science and Technology Department for 19 years. She received a Ph.D. in chemical physics from the University of Virginia and an MBA in management science from the University of New Mexico. She has spent the last decade studying neuroscience, neuropharmacology, neuroendocrinology, genomics, and bioinformatics.

Phillip Kniss Phil Kniss grew up in a Mennonite family in Florida but has spent 37 years in the Mennonite community in Harrisonburg, most of that time in church leadership. He has pastored two local Mennonite congregations, including 25 years as senior pastor at Park View Mennonite Church. He holds an M.Div. from Eastern Mennonite Seminary in Harrisonburg, and a D.Min. from Northern Seminary in Lombard, IL. He is married with three adult daughters, two sons-in-law, and four grandchildren. He also enjoys photography, hiking, and roasting coffee.

Tom Mack Tom Mack is a former elementary school teacher who ran a weekly after-school chess club for 30 years. He now spends his days creating, maintaining, and giving tours of his 3-acre botanical garden in Luray, which allows visitors a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of life while taking in a variety of picturesque gardens, mountain vistas, strolling paths, water features, and al fresco dining. David McQuilkin David K. McQuilkin has taught History and Political Science at various colleges and universities for more than forty years. He is professor emeritus at Bridgewater College and serves as a political analyst for WHSV.
Nathan Miller Nate Miller is a professor of Horticulture and Biology at Piedmont Virginia Community College. He is owner of Simply Sustainable Landscaping which focuses on native, edible and historical landscapes and works with Messer Landscapes of Staunton, VA. He graduated from Bridgewater College with a BA degree in Art and a concentration in Environmental Science and holds a master’s in Landscape Architecture from Clemson University. 
John Noffsinger John Noffsinger earned a Ph. D. in English from the University of Virginia, specializing in the 19th century English novel. For 38 years he taught literature and writing in Virginia independent schools.

Tyre Yancey Tyre Yancey is an author and photographer, whose work is featured in a 2006 book titled, "Vanishing Farms: Tyre Yancey, Locustcrest Farm, and his Photographic Compendium of Valley Farm Structures''. In 2012, Tyre and Jane published "RFD Folk Art", containing photographs of unique folk art mailboxes.
Laura Yordy Dr. Laura Yordy has recently retired from the Department of Philosophy & Religion at Bridgewater College. She has taught religious studies and philosophy for over 15 years, specializing in various approaches to ethics.
