Black Women in the Academy

The Black Women in the Academia Conference focuses on identifying and seeking solutions to issues facing women of African descent in higher education. This year’s theme is inspired by the work of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie who reminds us of the danger of a single story. For Africana women in higher education, no single story tells our journey. Reducing our story to a single narrative limits the fullness of our realities. The conference seeks to represent our diversity and uniqueness, our strengths and our challenges across higher education inclusive of community colleges, predominately white institutions and historically black colleges and universities. The conference welcomes staff, faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students. We are all engaged in making it possible for more of us to achieve our professional dreams.
