HV 101 - Introduction to Home Visiting

This 45-minute module introduces the profession of home visiting and its importance for children, parents and families. It provides information about early brain development, toxic stress, ACEs and protective factors. The module includes a description of home visiting programs as part of a larger system of care for children and families. The module also includes guidance for developing a resource and referral tool kit through community mapping.

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe the profession and effectiveness of home visiting
2. Explain the benefits of a comprehensive early childhood system of care
3. Describe Virginia's home visiting system, including EIV as a resource
4. Discuss the benefits of effective community collaboration and the importance of Community Mapping
