B9 Conversational Spanish as a Second Language Part 2 (Intermediate Level)

The Intermediate Level for this course is a continuation of the Beginner Level course. Any student taking this course should have completed the beginner course unless said student is confident that the beginner course is too basic for his/her skill level. Students will move from basic phrases and sentences to more advanced structures. Students will specifically begin developing confidence in use of the Spanish language. The Intermediate Level course will continue with topics discussed in the previous course and will add the following: -Airport Survival -Restaurant Etiquette -Asking for Help in a city The list above is not comprehensive and will likely be added to or adjusted during the course of the session. It is also important to understand that this is a conversational Spanish course and thus the focus will be learning to express oneself verbally. Various methods may be included to enhance learning; however, such methods will be secondary to verbal expression and practice. Methods may include writing, worksheets, reading, visual stimuli, grammar, kinesthetic activities, and music. Please feel free to contact the instructor at the following email address if there are any questions or doubts as to whether this course may be useful for you: Dianté Ryals

Instructor: Dianté Ryals graduated from JMU in December of 2015 with a B.A., Spanish and a B.S., Chemistry. He has traveled to several Spanish speaking countries including Spain and Colombia within the past two years. He has also interacted with native Spanish-speakers in the Valley area including speakers from Honduras, Ecuador, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Spain, Colombia, and Guatemala, Argentina, Uruguay and Cuba. He believes that immersion is the best way to learn the language, and immersion is more than possible right here in the U.S.
