F18A7 Foreign Invaders: Effects of Invasive Plant and Animal Species on the Shenandoah Valley
1st class: Two hours of classroom time learning about invasive plant and animal species and their effects on wildlife, people and local ecosystems.2nd class: Three hour field trip to Hillandale Park and Carrier Arboretum to look at weed species and gypsy moth damage.
3rd class: Three hour field trip to Hone Quarry to look at wooly adelgid damage and treatment, wineberry infestation and other weed species.
We will be carpooling on field trips.
Instructor: Nate Miller holds a Bachelor degree in Environmental Science from Bridgewater College and a Masters in Landscape Architecture from Clemson University. He is a Professor of Horticulture at Piedmont Virginia Community College and the owner of a landscape design company.
