F18B4 War and Peace: Lives Interrupted by the Civil War
For those who lived through the Civil War, the conflict was just part of their oft-eventful lifetimes. This class will examine the lives of the famous (including Jubal Early, Belle Boyd, John Mead Gould, Jedediah Hotchkiss, John Mosby, George Custer) and not-so-famous before, during, and after the conflict, demonstrating the world-shaking impact that the war had on a generation of Americans, and how their war-time experiences colored everything that followed.
Instructor: Keven M. Walker is the Chief Executive Officer of the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields National Historic District. Terry Heder is the Director of Interpretation, Education, and History for the National Historic District. This class will also include guest lecturers.
