F19A12 Music in the Old Testament
This class will study the origin, use, and teachings regarding music in the Old Testament. These will include historical accounts in Genesis and elsewhere, as well as in poetic and prophetic books. We will discuss the intended divine purpose for music, including worship, celebration, and encouragement. We will also look at biblical references in hymns and worship songs.Instructor: Raymond Hebert has taught and directed church and choral music for decades. He conducts the Staunton Choral Society and teaches Music Appreciation at Blue Ridge Community College. He also teaches private lessons in voice, piano, and guitar.
Suggested Reading: Please bring a Bible, one or more church hymnals, and a notebook.
