F19A3 A Matter of Balance
Older adults who are concerned about falling often allow fear of falling to limit their activities, resulting in increased physical weakness, thus making the risk of falling even greater. A Matter of Balance (MOB) is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. Participants will learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks, and participate in gentle exercise to increase strength and balance.Instructor: Joyce Nussbaum, Health & Wellness Coordinator for Valley Program for Aging Services (VPAS). Joyce has worked for VPAS for seven years and is certified as a Master Trainer for A Matter of Balance, and the Stanford University Chronic Disease Self-Management programs.
