Weather 101
Meteorology is a fascinating topic and in weather, there is never a boring day. We will look at some basic meteorology processes which influence the weather in the Shenandoah Valley. We'll start with some basic meteorology, learning about warm and cold fronts, and basic weather concepts from the jet stream to low and high pressure. We'll move on to severe weather, tropical weather, and winter weather. Each topic will include specifics for the Shenandoah Valley. The weather in the Valley can be unique. We'll move on to severe weather, tropical weather, and winter weather. Each topic will include history and specifics for the Shenandoah Valley. Aubrey Urbanowicz is an award-winning meteorologist. She has a Bachelor of Geosciences from Mississippi State University with a concentration in broadcast meteorology. In addition to reporting on flooding, wildfires and the Virginia earthquake, Aubrey has covered recent major weather events in the Valley like the tornado outbreak in April of 2011 and the March snowstorm of 2013. She is also a member of the National Weather Association. Aubrey has been with WHSV in Harrisonburg for 13 years.Please contact our office regarding availability of this course:
