A Run Through the Bible
Join in an informative and enjoyable 'run' through the entire Bible, including the Apocrypha, as we explore the uniqueness and messages of each book. We will begin with how the Bible came to be, suggestions and cautions about how to read the Bible, then learn the context, themes, highlights, stories and main issues of each book. We will learn of persons you may want to know and some that you may wish you didn't! If you have read and studied portions of the Bible, this course will help you see how it all fits together and possibly whet your appetite to read even more. If you don't know much about the Bible, this course will help you see what all the fuss is about! It will be a fast-moving, 'hit the highlights' and 'help me make sense of it' run through this amazing book, which is important to people of faith as well as to any literate person in our society. Mary Cline Detrick is a semi-retired ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren. She developed and has led an eight-hour 'Bible Marathon' in various settings since 2009. She offers a relaxed, yet scholarly approach to the Bible with human or an insight growing out of her 50+ years of continuing Bible studies, stimulated by her Masters of Religious Education and Master of Divinity degrees from Bethany Theological Seminary.
