From Vines to Wine

*An additional fee of $60 for wine to be tasted in class is payable to the instructor. A four-session course that begins with the vineyard and how vines are cultivated to produce grapes for wine making. Over the next three sessions, we will discuss how wine is made with a session on whites, and another on reds and lastly, specialty wines. In each session, we will discuss the wine making process and various components as aging, vessels, corks, bottles and how it pertains to each style of wine. Stephanie Pence and her husband are the owners of Brix and Columns Vineyards in McGaheysville, VA. It is a small farm winery and vineyard. Stephanie oversees the day-to-day operation of the winery and manages the vineyard. She has a passion for Virginia wine and agriculture and owning the winery/vineyard gives great insight into both areas.
