Kundalini Yoga in ChairsIntroduced to the West in 1969, the KRI Lineage of Kundalini Yoga is often referred to as the “householder’s yoga”. Unlike many other yogic traditions, Kundalini Yoga evolved as a path for people who “lived in the world” and were not renunciates; it was and is a yoga for people with families, jobs, and community commitments. More deeply, Kundalini Yoga is a yoga of transformation. It strengthens and balances our nervous system, regenerates energy within the body, and helps us develop our intuitive mind or “conscious awareness.” It is an art and science that helps us re-tap into our vitality. In this class, we’ll explore Kundalini Yoga on the chair, not on the mat. We’ll practice Pranayama (breathwork), Kriyas (specific series of actions or exercises done for a specific result), Mantra (intentional sound), Mudra (specific hand positioning) and Meditation as a means to re-energize body, mind, and spirit. We’ll close each class with time for tea and questions. Participants are asked to dress comfortably. Chairs will be provided. This is a class that is open to anyone, whether they practice yoga on the floor, in a chair, or not at all. Most people find a Kundalini Yoga class unlike any other yoga class they’ve ever experienced—however, no previous experience with any yoga is necessary. Kundalini Yoga can be practiced by anyone, by ANY body. Jennifer Perry (Dass Priya Kaur) is a certified Kundalini Yoga Level I teacher, as well as a certified teacher of Radiant Child Yoga. She has completed her Master Level III Reiki training and is pursuing further study and certification in both yoga and various healing modalities. Jennifer is co-founder of smallSEEDS, a small business devoted to offerings of Kundalini Yoga, Reiki, permaculture training, and community connection.
