S20C19 The 2019 Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival
This course will serve as an inside look at the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival in Harrisonburg. It provides an introduction to the music that will be played during this year's Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, including what goes on behind the scenes, and the history of the festival itself. It will also include attendance at noon concerts and rehearsals and time to talk with the conductor during the festival. Registration includes a ticket to one of the festival's three ticketed events of the student's choice.
Ken Nafziger, Professor of Music Emeritus, Eastern Mennonite University; taught at EMU for 40 years; founder and artistic director of the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival since 1993; 2015 recipient Circle of Excellence in the Arts Award, from the Forbes Center, Arts Council of the Valley, and JMU Arts Colleges.
