Spanish 1
This course is designed to teach members the basics of Spanish communication. We will cover greetings, interpersonal exchanges, ordering in a restaurant, asking directions, and other basic information. We will also learn about culture. This course is appropriate for someone who has never taken a Spanish class or who needs a refresher. A student who is very knowledgeable and comfortable using basic grammar such as nouns, articles, and adjectives would likely find this beginning level too basic and would benefit instead from taking the Spanish 2 or Spanish 3 courses.Instructor: Guillermo (Gil) Fernández is a native of Nicaragua who came to the United States at age 11. His use of Spanish at home and public education in English encouraged him to become deeply embedded in both languages and cultures. As a bilingual and bicultural educator, Gil has taught community Spanish classes for various audiences over the past six years.
