Broadway Musicals: The Golden Years

This course will examine the golden years of Broadway musicals looking at the creators and talent that made them great. We will look at the impact these productions and talent had on theatre and the impact social issues had on these productions.


NEIL MARRIN has been a faculty member in the Hart School of Hospitality, Sport, and Recreation here at JMU for 12 years. Originally, a New Yorker, Neil gained his love for musical theatre at a very young age getting to see some of the greats on Broadway (ie: Angela Lansbury, Pearl Bailey, Yul Brynner, Glen Close, Bernadette Peters). Neil’s undergraduate degree was in American Literature with a minor in Theatre. Since moving to the valley, Neil has been involved with the Schultz Theatre Off Broadway Players as an actor, director, and board president.
