A10 A Matter of Balance

Adults who are concerned about falling often allow fear of falling to limit their activities, resulting in increased physical weakness thus making the risk of falling even greater. A Matter of Balance (MOB) is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among adults. During the class, participants learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risk at home, and participate in gentle exercise to increase strength and balance. MOB consists of eight two hour classes with sessions 3 - 8 including 30 minutes of exercise.

Instructor: Joyce Nussbaum, Health & Wellness Coordinator for Valley Program for Aging Services (VPAS), graduated from the Adult Degree Program at James Madison University in 2010 and has a degree in Social Sciences with a concentration in Gerontology. Joyce has worked for VPAS for six years and is certified as a Master Trainer for A Matter of Balance, and the Stanford University Chronic Disease Self-Management, Diabetes Self-Management, Chronic Pain Self-Management and Cancer: Thriving and Surviving Programs.

Payment Information: Payment is due at time of registration and must be made by credit card (AMEX, MasterCard, Visa and Discover.) There is a $5 credit card convenience fee assessed at the time of payment. You will be redirected to the payment web site after clicking submit. Please have your credit card ready. Once payment is successfully completed, you will receive a payment receipt and a registration confirmation by email.

Withdrawal/Refund Policy: You may cancel your registration up to one week before the class start date, and receive a full refund (minus any credit card processing fees.) After that date, no refunds will be given.
