HVC Substance Use: Risks & Effects in Pregnancy & Early Childhood Development - Roanoke

This workshop is designed to introduce home visitors (HVs) to basic information about substance abuse. It will provide information about addiction and specific signs and symptoms home visitors might observe, including specific information about pregnant women and substance use. It will also introduce specific skills for HVs to use when they do suspect substance abuse problems, including screening and brief intervention, motivational interviewing, how and where to refer families for help, what legal issues are involved, and how to support someone with a substance use problem.
