S17C7 Controversial Elections

The United States had a controversial Presidential election in 2016. This was not the first election where controversy has reared its head. Going back to the Presidential election of 1800, elections are sometimes ugly and the outcomes do not always seem the "will of the people." In fact, five times the vote for President has resulted in a President being elected even though he has not gotten a majority of the popular vote. This course looks at many elections where the result may have been controversial and where the "winner" had a great challenge before him.
