*For those that want to carpool, participants will meet in the parking lot of Hobby Lobby, 1835 E. Market Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801. Please, park in the area of the lot closest to E. Market Street/Rt. 33. Meeting time for carpooling is 9:30 am. Come visit the modern state-of-the-art dairy milking parlor built in 2014 where 72 cows can be milked at once on a 230-degree rotary. Cows are milked 3 times a day and the operation runs 24/7. Milk production for each cow is charted electronically and they may be sent back to the feed barn or special needs barn. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 2011 with a major in dairy science and a minor in agricultural economics, Rachel Smith Fink, joined this family business and works in herd management, care of post-pasture cows, and general management of the dairy operation.
