This course will examine the historical significance of Stonewall Jackson's 1862 Valley Campaign, including the strategy and tactics of the battles, the routes traveled by the opposing armies, and the overall significance of the campaign to the Civil War. Information will be conveyed through the observations of three key characters in the struggle: General Thomas "Stonewall Jackson," Jedediah Hotchkiss, and Colonel Turner Ashby. If students have an ancestor who fought in the Valley Campaign, we will do our best to cater the sessions with that in mind. A field trip may also be possible depending on weather.

Peter Dalton has a Major in education in the Social Sciences from the University of Southern Maine and is currently a battlefield guide in the Shenandoah Valley.
Fee: $35.00
